I’m a poet, artist, and collaborator living and creating in the great plains of Oklahoma. My reactions to existence manifest in books, spoken word performances, murals, installations, and immersive art experiences. I create in order to connect with the world and with myself.
I grew up as a poet, and in 2016 I began exploring how to present words in unexpected ways. In a scroll-through society, I wanted to experiment with ways to encourage interaction with the under-experienced medium of poetry.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit extensively in and around Oklahoma, including a year-long solo exhibition at 21c Museum and Hotel in Oklahoma City (2018 – 2019), and been named the Paseo Feast Prize-Winning Artist (2019) and Leap Coffee Roasters Featured Artist (2020 – 2021). In 2017 I began contributing to collaborative and immersive art as a member of the nationally recognized, Oklahoma City-based art collective Factory Obscura.
My short-form poetry has been recognized as among the best in the world, as selected by a global panel of poetry editors from among 18,000 entries in both 2010 and 2011. In 2015 I authored 1, a book of poetry and photography. In 2021 I was nominated for Poet Laureate of Oklahoma, and in 2023 I collaborated with Dorshak Blok to create the genre-bending graphic novella Beyond the Quantum: An Existential Crisis in 5 Acts. I have written and performed original spoken word poems commissioned by organizations such as Factory Obscura, Marilyn Artus’s historic HerFlag project, the Paseo Arts Association, and others.
When I’m not writing or creating, I consult with non-profits across the nation to get their message out and raise critical funding to make the world better.
